RE
Our Religious Education (RE) curriculum has been designed to reflect the latest research and development in the subject, where pupils are encouraged to use their personal knowledge or worldviews to help their understanding of others' responses to big questions.
Pupils develop a wide range of subject skills, including interfaith dialogue, as they investigate the beliefs, values and practices of a wide range of religious and non- religious worldviews, and the interconnection between them. Subject-specific vocabulary is explicitly taught within each unit and the school-wide oracy approach is embedded within RE lessons, allowing pupils to share, discuss and debate their ideas in a respectful way.
Through this approach pupils come to appreciate the meaning behind various practices, recognising mutual values and beliefs between religions and worldviews, as well as considering the reasons for diversity within religions over time and around the world.
The learning has been planned carefully around key concepts so that learning in one unit is consistently built on and broadened in the next. Pupils will therefore maintain a continued narrative through the curriculum, being able to apply their prior learning in RE to help understand new knowledge and the connections between them.
